Red Wagon

I am sure that as my father-in-law was building this red wagon for our oldest nearly five years ago, he was picturing his granddaughter (and future grandchildren) getting some true enjoyment out of it...filling it with dirt, taking it for spins around the neighborhood...you know, the typical red wagon experiences. But because it was built by their grandfather, to me it should be one of those things that never gets dirty and it instead has become one of those treasured "show pieces" in our home. That is...until this past week. After nap one afternoon, I found Brody calling to me from the top of the stairs with the empty wagon trailing behind him (and ALL of the board books I had displayed nicely inside of it were suddenly scattered all over the floor). He insisted on bringing it outside and I finally realized it should probably be used for its actual intended purposes. That wagon has gone practically everywhere with us since...to the park for some playtime, down the street to watch the big diggers repairing the road and in the backyard for a few tea parties. And it has carried all things imaginable...from stuffed animals to Brody's red tractor, and even a few kiddos who find amusement in sending it flying down the driveway, running beside it and jumping in to spin wildly out of control.

Anyways Ray, they sure love that wagon, but now I think I am in need of a new bookshelf. :)

I love being HOME! I hate to think that this is going to come to an end. I am so glad you look forward to my updates because I look forward to yours, I shouldn't admit this but I check daily!
