"Big...like Ella"

Cassidy will be turning 3 years old in just a few weeks and every time we talk about her upcoming special day she repeatedly asks me, "Then will I be big...like Ella?" I tell you, as different as those two girls are, Cassidy looks up to her big sister more than one might think possible. And in all that Cassidy does, she asks if she can do it like Ella. She truly cannot wait until she is big enough to go to Little Lamb preschool like Ella, play soccer and do dance like Ella, and attend Cubbies class at AWANA...just like Ella. I know as time goes on, our two girls' interests will most likely take them down different paths, but no matter where God leads them, I know their bond will continue to grow and their sisterly love will further blossom.

This weekend I will be taking Ella on the train down to NYC to visit my brother Adam and his wife Rachel as somewhat of a belated 4 year old Birthday gift. This will mark one of the few times Ella and Cassidy have really been separated. Though Patrick has some special events planned for Cassidy while Ella and I are gone, I know the time away from her big sister will be hard for her. It is true that Cassidy can't wait until she is "big as Ella" to take a trip with just Mommy, but to be completely honest, I personally am just trying to savor every second of "littleness" she has left in her.
