Storyboards

So the kids and I returned from our trip to visit Patrick on Monday afternoon. We had a lot of fun throughout our weekend in Buffalo; watching 4th of July fireworks, swimming at the hotel pool, scoping out new playgrounds, and going to the Buffalo Zoo. Most importantly though, the kids and I got to spend some quality time with their Daddy...truly the highlight of the whole weekend.
Monday night the girls had their first soccer practice of the summer. It's part of the Youth Sports Program at our YMCA. Ella and Cassidy are in the 3 and 4 year old division and on the same team (the Rams). Anyway, this is Ella's second year and I think she has been excited about playing soccer again ever since the season ended last year. Being that Cassidy just turned three years old, she is able to participate this summer for the first time. All day long on Monday she kept asking me, "Is it time to go to soccer yet, Mommy?" I'm sure you can guess she was quite excited about it too! I decided to create these storyboards to document some of the images I was able to capture of the girls first practice together. Cassidy's of course is inspired by her favorite storybook character, Fancy Nancy.
As you can tell from the pictures, Cassidy has a little trouble keeping her hands off the ball. She cracked me up every time she would scoop it up and then replace it back on the ground in the direction she wanted it to go before giving it a good little kick. She certainly looks up to her sister though. Being a year older and having a year more experience, Ella just was a little faster and had a little more background as far as skills go. Every time Cassidy would lose sight of Ella, she would come running over to Brody and I on the side of the field and ask me, "Mommy, where is Ella?" Once Cassidy could spot her, she'd race back on the field and do all she could to keep up. It was just too cute.
Ella is catching on to the sport quite well...which I'm sure will make her Daddy proud as he has been a soccer lover all of his life. God only knows if any of our kids will even be athletes as they get older (I suppose if I had my way they'd be growing fins and swimming laps down the pool), but for now they seem to be enjoying it...and I certainly have a lot of fun watching them.
(Oh...and you can just click on the storyboards if you want to see the images bigger).
