Lake Ontario
This weekend we got to celebrate Maddie's Baptism with her family at her Grandparents' house up in Oswego. Not only is Oswego an important place in my heart because it is where my special friendship with Maddie's Mom began and grew, but it is also where Patrick and I first laid our roots after we were married just over seven years ago. Though we only lived there two years, the memories we have from that time together are memories that we love to share with our children. Every time Patrick and I drive up there, the first thing we have to do is drive through the city, showing the kids some of our favorite places that we used to enjoy...such as our house on Liberty Street, the high school where mommy used to coach, the old Verizon garage in which Daddy worked, our favorite places to eat like Rudy's and the Press Box, the YMCA where mommy and Melanie used to swim in the wee hours of the morning, Bev's ice cream stand where we enjoyed oh so many ice cream cones, the college where mommy went to school, and of course, the shore of Lake Ontario, where Patrick and I shared countless evening walks side by side and hand in hand...where our marriage really began to grow; where we shared events from our days, told stories about our pasts and dreamed about our future. This weekend, when Maddie's Grandpa suggested we head to the Lake so the kids could skip some rocks, all those memories came flooding back...only this time, not only did I get to enjoy them with my loving husband, but my three beautiful children as well.
