A New Year

It seems I always have a long list of things I resolve to improve upon with each New Year. The funny thing is, making the resolutions never really seems to be the difficult part for me...unfortunately, keeping them is what I tend to struggle with most. A few that fall within this year's quite lengthy list include (but are certainly not limited to):

1. Drink more water.
2. Eat less chocolate. (I seem to have failed quite miserably on this one and it's only my first day!)
3. Take more pictures...and share them.

Number 3, honestly is most important to me. I want to capture more of the "everyday" in my children's lives...and document these stages of their youth before they pass me by. I want to become less focused on always trying to "perfect" an image...at least from a technical standpoint...and enjoy more of the moments taking place when an image is being photographed. I want to be able to show you more of my children's quirky smiles and their obnoxious expressions as well as all the crazy happenings that occur each day in our chaotic (what more would you expect with four little kids?)...but more importantly blessed household.

So to kick things off...here is one of little Joey...not too happy about having his picture taken. The first week in December I had this grand idea to try to take some shots of the kids for our family Christmas Card...which happened to be just one day after Joseph was inflicted with some pretty hefty burns to his right hand...(hence the lovely sock covering the bandage in the photo below)...which of course I neglected to blog about at the time because really, what mother wants to admit that her little one got injured when her back was turned? So needless to say, the Christmas portrait session was a flop...or at least that is what I thought at the time anyway. I haven't gone through a lot of the images from that day...but this one really did make me laugh...certainly not at the time that I took it...but much later, after the fact. As you can see, Joey is literally trying to reach for my camera and I swear if he could have gotten his hands on it, he probably would have ripped it off my neck and thrown it straight across the field. But thankfully he didn't. And oh...if you look real close, you just might notice the chunk of pine cone in the little guy's mouth as I tried to take his picture. And yes, I DO feed that boy...but don't ya know, pine cones make quite the snack!
